The exhibition “Tan Trao – The Birthplace of the Nation, 80 Years Since the Dawn of the Vietnamese Revolution” is a highlight in a series of programs organized by Flamingo Holdings. It aims to honor historical values, evoke national pride, and promote Tan Trao—the Capital of the Liberated Zone and the Capital of the Resistance—as a destination that harmoniously combines revolutionary history, premium resort experiences, and local cultural heritage.
Drawing inspiration from Tan Trao—a land of profound significance in Vietnam’s revolutionary history—the exhibition features four thematic areas. It showcases 80 artworks curated from over 200 photographs, including historical archives, images of relics at the Viet Bac Revolutionary Base (ATK), and photographs of today’s ministries and government agencies in Ha Noi, which originated in Tan Trao during the pre-uprising period and the resistance war against French colonial rule.

The opening section, “Following in Uncle Ho’s Footsteps,” recreates the journey of young Nguyen Tat Thanh, who in the summer of 1911 set sail from Nha Rong Wharf to embark on a great quest across nearly 30 countries. Under the name Nguyen Ai Quoc, he embraced Marxism-Leninism and identified the proletarian revolution as Vietnam’s inevitable path. Returning to Pac Bo, Cao Bang in 1941, he directly led the revolutionary movement within the country. Each photograph recalls the hardships he endured in his quest to find the path to national liberation.
In May 1945, at a decisive revolutionary moment, President Ho Chi Minh left Pac Bo, Cao Bang for Tan Trao, Tuyen Quang. From here, Tan Trao—the Capital of the Liberated Zone—became the highest command center of the General Uprising to seize power. The section “Tan Trao National Congress – The Founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam” presents rare archival images of this historic Congress, the fervent atmosphere of the August Revolution, and the milestone of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

During the resistance war against the French, Tan Trao once again became a revolutionary base. From strategic conferences that determined the course of the war, to moments of leisure and sports, from long nights “digging into mountains and sleeping in tunnels” to humble meals in the forest—each photograph in the “Capital of the Resistance – Land of Heroes” section vividly illustrates history, portraying Tan Trao as both the command center of the resistance and the spiritual stronghold of the entire nation.
Beyond historical memory, the exhibition also depicts the development of the revolutionary government—from resistance to nation-building, from hardship to sustainable growth. In the section “Revolutionary Government from the Founding Days,” photographs link past and present: from early makeshift offices at the Viet Bac base, to their preserved relics in Tuyen Quang, and to the modern headquarters now standing in Ha Noi.

The exhibition “Tan Trao – The Birthplace of the Nation, 80 Years Since the Dawn of the Vietnamese Revolution” is held within Flamingo Heritage Onsen & Resort, a property located in the heart of Tan Trao’s heritage area, developed by Flamingo Holdings with the vision of opening a new chapter for tourism in Tuyen Quang—a land both beautiful and steeped in revolutionary tradition.
“We hope to create a sacred encounter between the present and the past. The exhibition is not only a place to recount history, but also to inspire pride and ignite the aspirations of today’s generation to continue building the nation, just as earlier generations once began here in Tan Trao,” a Flamingo Holdings representative shared.
